The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Engineering & Technology, Kothamangalam was formed in the year 2009. The Department offers a sound program at the UG as well as the PG levels. The undergraduate course aims at making fundamentals strong by practically implementing the ideas. The postgraduate program guides the students to understand & identifying their own interest areas in the field of Computer Science and Engineering, from where they can carry their further research. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering has well equipped Laboratories, well established computer centers with 24 hours Internet connectivity, excellent library, experienced & highly qualified faculty members. The Department Laboratories have been very well established not only to cover complete syllabus but to motivate students to learn beyond the syllabus which definitely develops complete knowledge of the subject and develop skill sets of students to become promising engineers in future.

The Department has a team of highly experienced and motivated faculty members who are in the process of tuning the young minds to make them globally competitive. Innovative methods of teaching and learning process are adopted to achieve learning abilities through practice, exposure and motivation. The department aims at enhancing technical and professional competency as well as aids in inculcating moral and ethical values among students.

Graduates of the Computer Science and Software Engineering Department will be recognized as innovative leaders in the fields of computer science and software engineering by their work in software development in a myriad of application areas, and through their work in advanced study and research.   The faculty will continue to be known for their passion for teaching these students and for their knowledge, expertise, and innovation in advancing the frontiers of knowledge in computer science and software engineering.

Our mission is to teach and prepare liberally educated, articulate, and skilled computer scientists and software engineers for leadership and professional careers and for advanced study.  A central objective of our program is to contribute to society by advancing the fields of computer science and software engineering through innovations in teaching and research, thus enhancing student knowledge through interactive instruction, global engagement, and experiential learning. The program will serve as a resource to inform society about innovations related to the production and uses of computers and software.
