The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. NSS was formally launched on 24th September 1969, the birth centenary year of the Father of the Nation, and is celebrated every year as NSS Day with appropriate programmes and activities. APJ AKTU NSS Cell has one technical Units in IIET numbered with Unit No.249. NSS has always stood up to its strong spirit of serving people keeping in mind the policy of “Not Me But You”. “Not Me But You “, the NSS’s motto, embodies democratic living and emphasizes the necessity of selfless service. The NSS was established primarily with the goal of fostering student-led programs that encourage participation in national development and the development of their personalities via community service. Over the course of an academic year, NSS volunteers engage in 120 hours of regular activities with villages, slums, and volunteer organizations. It is expected of an NSS volunteer to live among the community’s residents, stay in close contact with them, and absorb knowledge from their experiences. Many students who would otherwise remain ignorant of the true struggles and sufferings endured by the majority in society as a whole have been inspired to become socially conscious by the NSS units of the IIET, which have consistently provided volunteers with a platform to serve the community and bring joy and smiles to many faces
